Day 1: Arrival and Romantic Dinner at Arnguli Grill

Morning/Afternoon:

Arrival at Ayers Rock Airport: Your romantic weekend away in Uluṟu begins the moment you land at Ayers Rock Airport. There's no need to worry about transportation, as your complimentary airport transfer will be waiting right outside. Simply collect your luggage, hop on the coach with your hotel's sign, and settle in as you're whisked away to the start of your Red Centre getaway.

Check In To Your Hotel: Two Ayers Rock Resort hotels stand out as perfect accommodations near Uluru for your romantic getaway. Sails in the Desert and Desert Gardens offer elegantly appointed guest rooms with luxury amenities and on-site access to incredible dining outlets like Ilkari Restaurant, Pira Pool Bar, Arnguli Grill and Mangata Restaurant.

Travel tip: Book your accommodations as soon as you know your travel dates. If you’re after a room with a view of Uluṟu, Desert Gardens offers Ayers Rock Resort’s only rock-view rooms.

Evening:

Dinner at Arnguli Grill: The first night of your romantic escape deserves an elegant meal to match the vibe. Arnguli Grill, named for the native bush plum in the local Pitjantjatjara language, offers an award-winning fine dining experience that will set the scene for your romantic dinner.

With a deep emphasis on local ingredients and native flavours, the menu infuses classic favorites with a true taste of the Spiritual Heart of Australia. The grill is a particular highlight, where you can feast on delicacies that reflect a uniquely Outback twist.

Travel tip: Be sure to book a table in advance, as reservations for Arnguli Grill are highly recommended.

Day 2: Kata Tjuta & Dinner With a View of Uluru

Morning/Afternoon:

Kata Tjuta Sunrise Tour: Day two of your Red Centre adventure begins with a guided sunrise tour of the iconic domes of Kata Tjuta.

Your guide will arrive to pick you up from your hotel at Ayers Rock Resort before heading to Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park to watch the desert come alive as the 36 domes change colour. You’ll enjoy an outback picnic breakfast before your guide takes you around Walpa Gorge, sharing the sacred significance of the site.

Travel tip: If you have hired a car for your stay, you could skip the tour and explore Kata Tjuta at your own pace. To catch a stellar view of the sunrise, head to the Kata Tjuta dune viewing area.

Evening/Night:

Field of Light Dinner: For an unforgettable and romantic evening at Uluru, start with the Field of Light Dinner. Imagine dining beneath the stars as you watch the sunset, painting the iconic monolith in stunning shades of burnt red, orange, and purple.

This incredible backdrop is the perfect setting for Bruce Munro's immersive art installation, which brings the desert to life in a whole new way. Stretched across an area the size of seven football fields, 50,000 glowing spindles of light create a mesmerising, otherworldly landscape.

Travel tip: Book this experience as soon as you know your travel dates, as space can be limited.

Day 3: Sunrise Journeys and Outback Relaxation

Morning:

Sunrise Journeys: Start your final full day in the Red Centre with Sunrise Journeys, an experience that blends Indigenous art and storytelling with a laser, light and sound show with Uluru as the backdrop. After the show, you’ll enjoy a nourishing breakfast with native-inspired flavours and Australian chai tea before heading back to the hotel on your complimentary transfer. This intimate experience will leave you feeling in awe of Anangu culture well after your holiday is over.

Afternoon:

Relax and Refresh: After an early morning at Sunrise Journeys, head back to the hotel for an afternoon filled with relaxation. If you want to spend the afternoon lounging around, head to Pira Pool Bar and park up by the pool with a cocktail and some light snacks.

For the ultimate afternoon of bliss, book a treatment at Red Ochre Spa for you and your partner. Unwind with a rejuvenating body treatment, or opt for a tailored massage to soothe tired muscles.

Evening:

Wintjiri Wiru: Your final night in the Red Centre calls for a truly unforgettable experience, and what better way to say goodbye to the outback than at the Wintjiri Wiru Sunset Dinner?

The evening begins with a gentle stroll along an elevated walkway to a stunning open-air theater set atop a dune. Here, as the sun begins to dip below the horizon, you'll be treated to a gourmet dinner hamper filled with native ingredients and paired with premium Penfolds wines.

As twilight fades to night, the main event begins. You’ll be immersed in a captivating chapter of the Mala story, brought to life through choreographed drones, lasers, and projections that light up the night sky. The show is accompanied by a traditional Inma soundtrack and narration in the local Pitjantjatjara language, offering a deep connection to the culture and the land. It’s an epic and moving finale to your Red Centre adventure.

Morning:

On the final morning of your romantic getaway, treat yourself to a sleep-in to ensure that you feel rested and refreshed after a weekend in Uluru. Wake up slowly and treat yourself to breakfast, whichever way you like it. If you’re hankering for a big breaky, head to Ilkari Restaurant for a deluxe buffet breakfast, featuring locally inspired dishes and freshly brewed coffee and tea.

If you’d prefer a cafe breakfast, make your way to Gecko’s Cafe for a hearty, dine-in breakfast and a fresh cup of coffee or tea. The cafe is located in Ayers Rock Resort Town Square, so you can explore or purchase a souvenir of your time in the Red Centre before you check out and head to the airport.
