Answers to your Questions
Can I walk to Kata Tjutu National Park or Uluru from the resort?
No, for safety reasons, walking to the National Park from the resort is not advised. There are a number of transport options to take you to the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Check in at the reception desk of your hotel for more information and transportation options.
AIRPORT HEALTH AND SAFETY POLICIES AND PRACTICES
Airport transfers will continue to be provided to all guests arriving on commercial flights with staggered seat distancing, contactless sanitiser available and enhanced cleaning protocols introduced on all AAT Kings vehicles.
QFG will provide regular announcements regarding social distancing guidelines. This will be part of the regular boarding calls as well.
Gate Seating Changes
This will be done in accordance with Government requirements. Measures incude adjusted seating plan, markings 'do not use' etc. This will be in place to corrospond with the first flight arrival.

Hygiene Kits (PPE)
Passengers collect kit from near boarding pass readers. QFG will fund kits but airport to support with proximate storage area for boxes.
Increased cleaning and wipe down of all traffic areas
Hand Sanitiser Stations
In addition to other locations, sanitiser will be provided at each boarding gate.
Use existing Airport Authority signage where required but supplement with QFG signs as required. Additional signage in general passenger areas by airport.
Social Distancing -Terminal Floor Markings
This will be done in accordance with Government requirements. Will be required in check-in, boarding gates and baggage reclaim.
Where possible (i.e.. belt available) bags to be spaced to meet social distancing requirements. Floor distancing markings will be in place.
AM I ABLE TO CANCEL MY BOOKING?
In most instances our standard cancellation policy will apply. Existing rates will be honoured on all Voyages Accommodation and Touring. Should you wish to amend your booking please speak to our Travel Centre directly please call 1300 134 044.
Are campfires permitted at Ayers Rock Campground?
Campfires are only permitted during the winter months; however, they’re only allowed if there is not a total fire ban in place. Guests must bring their own enclosed fire pit and it must be raised off the ground. No fires are permitted on the camping lawns.
Are dining vouchers available?
Unfortunately, we currently do not offer vouchers at this time.
Are pets permitted at the Campground?
Dogs are permitted at Ayers Rock Campground, but must be kept on a leash at all times. Unfortunately, cats are not permitted at Ayers Rock Campground or anywhere in the township of Yulara.
Are short-term positions available?
Generally we hire for a six month minimum commitment however, as peak seasons vary across Australia, these are occasionally possible.
Are there many insects around Uluru?
There are insects throughout the year, but you might notice fewer during the cooler months of May-September.
Are tours ever cancelled due to bad weather?
Occasionally, weather conditions make it unsafe for tours to operate. When that happens, people who have booked the tour will be notified of the cancellation and offered an alternative option or a refund depending on the circumstances of the cancellation.
Are tours wheelchair accessible?
Some tours are accessible for our guests in wheelchairs – please check with reception for more information. We have a limited number of wheelchairs available at the resort. If you require one, please mention it during your booking, or contact our reservations team anytime to make sure a wheelchair is available.
AVAILABLE DINING OPTIONS AT AYERS ROCK RESORT
Ilkari Restaurant located within Sails in the Desert will open daily for breakfast & dinner. An à la carte menu will replace the traditional buffet for both breakfast and dinner. The à la carte breakfast can continue to be pre-booked at your contracted buffet rate.
Walpa Bar also located within Sails in the Desert will open for dinner with a limited à l carte menu.
Within the Town Square Gecko’s Café will open open daily for lunch and early dinner and will offer dine in or take away. The Kulata Academy Café will also open daily for a light breakfast and lunch.
In room dining across all three properties will be available 24/7.

AVAILABLE TOURS AND GUEST ACTIVITIES
We are pleased to advise Sounds of Silence and a number of Field of Light tours will reopen and be operational on selected dates from 1 August these are available to pre-book via the website.
Desert Awakenings (and Outback Sky Journeys) will initially not run and further information will be advised in due course.
A limited Free Guest Activity program has been developed and is available to access via the website. Information will also be provided to guests upon check in.
An extensive selection of tours to explore the National Park will be available by our touring partners and we recommend that you contact them directly for further information.
Can I bring pets?
Mostly this is not possible due to our properties being in national parks and protected environments. Dogs are permitted at Ayers Rock Campground, but must be kept on a leash at all times. Unfortunately, cats are not permitted anywhere in the township of Yulara – this includes the Ayers Rock Resort Campground.
Can I buy food to cook in my room at Emu Walk Apartments? Is there a microwave in my room?
Yes - the Town Square IGA supermarket is open daily with a great assortment of food items. Emu Walk Apartments do have microwaves in-room.
Can I cancel a tour?
Yes. If you booked with a travel agent, please contact your agent to cancel. If you booked a tour with us, please call 1300 134 044 or +61 (0)2 8296 8010 to cancel or update your booking.
Can I choose my room mate?
If you are travelling with someone it's very likely you will be able to share.
Can I get a taxi from the airport to the Hotel?
There are no taxis at the resort. There is a complimentary coach transfer from the airport to the resort. Alternatively, If you are looking for a private transfer there is a limousine service you can book at an additional cost.
Can I get feedback on my application if I am unsuccessful?
Yes, you can call the Foundation Manager at 0438 450 412 to discuss your application.
Can I park my car at the resort? How much does parking cost?
Yes! There are complimentary parking areas located throughout the resort.
Can I request a room with a view of Uluru?
To guarantee a view of Uluru, we recommend booking a Deluxe Rock View Room at Desert Gardens Hotel.
Can I see Ayers Rock/Uluru from anywhere in the resort?
There are a number of great vantage points around the resort.
Can I see the Olgas/Kata Tjuta from anywhere in the resort?
No, the Olgas/Kata Tjuta is not visible from the resort, but if you head to the National Park you will be able to explore them.
Can I use the pool at another hotel?
To avoid overcrowding, pools at each hotel are dedicated for the guests of that hotel. Guests staying at Emu Walk Apartments are welcome to use the pool at Desert Gardens Hotel.
Can you camp at Mossman Gorge?
There are no campgrounds in the Mossman Gorge section of the Daintree Rainforest. You can find accommodation near the Centre, including B&B and campground options.
Can you give examples of your environmental initiatives?
We are a recognised leader in sustainable environmental tourism practice. We are committed to reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Through a series of initiatives across our properties we are focusing on energy management - reducing electricity consumption and LPG usage - and waste management techniques to reduce disposal to landfill. We also focus on efficiently managing our water resources and protecting biodiversity - native flora and fauna.
Can you swim at Mossman Gorge?
The Mossman River is an unpredictable and inherently dangerous waterway that can and does change drastically from day to day, hour to hour and even minute to minute. The Mossman River is also unsupervised and water conditions are not regularly monitored. Entering the Mossman River can be dangerous even when it appears calm and shallow near the shore, due to a combination of strong currents, cold deep water, and submerged objects (including rocks and floating logs). Water conditions can change very quickly and unexpectedly, particularly in times of high rain, and flash flooding can occur even when it is not raining in the immediate area. People have been injured and deaths have occurred at Mossman Gorge.
Businesses can play a role in the Foundation, from their contribution of much needed funds to donations in kind and the sponsorship of programs. Donations are tax deductible under Australian law. Here are some ideas for you as a business on how you can support the Anangu Communities Foundation;

Do any accommodations have self serve BBQs?
There are self-serve BBQ's available at the Ayers Rock Resort Campground only.

Do I need to bring sheets and towels? Do I need to bring towels to the pool?
Sheets and towels are provided in rooms, and pool towels are available at the pool. For guests staying in the dormitory at the Outback Pioneer Lodge, sheets are included and towels are available with a refundable deposit.
Do I need to dress up for my dinner tours?
No need to be too fancy! Smart casual clothing is recommended. Avoid white trousers, skirts, jeans, or shoes as the red earth will stain them.
Do I need to provide a gratuity?
Gratuities are appreciated but are optional! They are not required at any of our restaurants.
DO I NEED TO SELF-ISOLATE AT AYERS ROCK RESORT?
Guidelines released by the Australian Department of Health indicate that anyone arriving into Australia from a foreign country must self-isolate for 14 days. Additionally, anyone who believes they may have been in close contact with a confirmed case of COVID-19 will also need to self-isolate for 14 days. Up-to-date isolation guidance can be found on:
Do Voyages employ interns?
Voyages works with a number of Australian hotel schools and education providers to provide industry placements and employment to complement studies. We regularly attend hotel school expos and present to students at their place of study.
Do you accommodate families?
Off-site accommodation and primary schooling is available at Ayers Rock Resort.
Do you have free WiFi?
In-room WiFi is complimentary for all hotel and apartment guests. WiFi plans are available for guests staying in lodge accommodation at the Outback Pioneer.
Does it rain at Uluru/Ayers Rock? What are the driest months?
Yes, it can rain at any time of the year. Traditionally the highest rainfall months are November and December. However, our desert location means that overall we receive little rain.
Does the resort offer babysitting services?
Babysitting is available, but due to limited availability it should be pre-booked in advance. You can arrange for babysitting services through the hotel’s front desk.
Donation Refund Policy
- We ask that you enter your details carefully and with consideration, including the dollar value of your donation, when donating to the Anangu Communities Foundation on-line.
- The Anangu Communities Foundation is under no obligation to refund donations made in error by you, however we will endeavour to fix any genuine errors (such as the amount donated) if such errors are brought to our attention within 14 days of the transaction taking place. We regret that we will be unable to make corrections after this time period has elapsed, other than in exceptional circumstances.
- Anangu Communities Foundation reserves the right to deduct any bank fees, transaction charges or processing fees arising from donation errors made by a donor.
- A donor who has been provided with a tax receipt for their donation will be ineligible to claim a tax deduction for any refunded donation.
- The Anangu Communities Foundation is under no obligation to refund change of heart donations.
- Should an error ever be made by Anangu Communities Foundation, our financial institutation(s) or platform partners, a full refund will be made promptly upon notification of the error.

For guests staying at Ayers Rock Resort
As a guest at Ayers Rock Resort, donations may be charged to your room account or you can make cash donations in the collection boxes located throughout the resort and at the Ayers Rock Airport. Ayers Rock Resort will match all guest contributions dollar-for-dollar, up to $200,000 each year. You may claim your tax deduction when you complete your Australian tax return, using your room account as proof of donation.

How are funding applications assessed?
Applications are assessed against each of the criteria. The Foundation relies on fundraising and donations and the amount approved will be dependent on the available budget. The Anangu Communities Foundation Board reviews all applications and decides which applications are approved.

How do I book a tour?
There is a Tour & Information Centre at the resort with more information about all available tours. Guests can book their tours at the Centre; however, since space is limited we recommend pre-booking online to avoid disappointment

How do I get around the resort?
Guests can hop on the complimentary resort shuttle service, which circulates the resort every 15-20 minutes between 10.30am and 12.30am. Or enjoy the walk – it’s the best way to explore and get familiar with your new surroundings. It takes anywhere from three to 15 minutes to walk from one hotel property to another within the resort.
How do I get from the airport to Ayers Rock Resort?
If you’re arriving from Ayers Rock Connellan Airport, a complimentary bus transfer is the easiest way to get to the resort – plus, it’s included with your room reservation! The service does not need to be booked in advance as it meets all incoming and outgoing flights. You can also book a hire car or a private limo to get you to the resort. It’s a 15-20 minute drive to Ayers Rock Resort.
From Alice Springs Airport, Ayers Rock Resort is a one-hour flight or an approximately 4.5-hour drive or bus ride.

Alice Springs is approximately 450km away from the resort (a 4.5 hour drive, or 1 hour flight).

Kings Canyon is roughly 350km away, a 3.5-hour drive along the Stuart Highway. For an off-road experience, guests can take the Mereenie loop road instead, which is only suitable for 4WD vehicles.
How far in advance should I book my campsite?
We recommend booking as soon as your travel dates are confirmed, regardless of season.

How often does the resort shuttle run?
The shuttle runs daily, departing approximately every 20 minutes from 10.30am - 12.30am.
How often will my room be cleaned?
Rooms are cleaned daily, unless you leave the ‘do not disturb’ sign on your door.
I haven't worked in hospitality before. Should I apply?
For core hospitality positions such as food/beverage, kitchen, housekeeping and front office you must bring relevant hotel or resort experience. For other positions you need to have strong technical skills, experience in your area and be ready to demonstrate how these will contribute to hotel/resort operations.

If I bring personal food items or groceries to a Resort restaurant, can a chef prepare or heat my food?
Unfortunately no, due to food handling and preparation guidelines, we cannot accommodate this request.

IS COMING TO AYERS ROCK RESORT DANGEROUS TO THE LOCAL INDIGENOUS COMMUNITY AND WHAT PRECAUTIONS ARE BEING TAKEN TO PREVENT THE SPREAD OF COVID-19 TO MUTITJULU?
Mutitjulu community is located within the National Park in a restricted area approximately 30kms away from the Resort. Voyages are communicating with both Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park and Mutitjulu management on a regular basis to ensure that all necessary precautions are being taken to reduce the risk of community members coming into contact with the virus.
Aboriginal Territorians live with much higher rates of chronic conditions when compared with Non-Aboriginal people. Therefore they are at greater risk of more serious illness if they are infected with COVID-19. A COVID-19 outbreak in an Aboriginal community could have devastating consequences for the local residents.
As a company, we are taking extra precautions to minimize the risk to the Anangu people and protect one of the world’s oldest living cultures so they can continue to preserve age-old traditions and heritage in the present day.
You too have a role to play and we would appreciate your cooperation to comply with NT restrictions, as part of your personal responsibility.
Is it possible to work with another person in the same location?
We welcome joint applications and this should be indicated when applying. Both applicants must bring relevant experience but we cannot guarantee that both will be successful.
Is smoking permitted at any of the restaurants or on the patios?
No, all of our restaurants and patios are non-smoking areas.
Is the campground open all year? What about the pool?
Ayers Rock Campground is open all year. Campground reception and pool opening hours are seasonal, and the pool is locked at night.
Is there a specific dress code for any of the restaurants?
No, there are no specific dress code requirements. We recommend smart casual dress for all restaurants at the resort.
IS THERE ADDITIONAL SCREENING AT AYERS ROCK AIRPORT?
There will be additional health screening measures for guests arriving into Ayers Rock Airport. For the wellbeing of all guests, any passenger suspected of having the virus will subject to assessment by NT health in an isolated facility within the airport.
Is there an entry fee for the National Park?
You need a park pass to experience Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park’s natural and cultural wonders.
Your park pass helps us maintain the park’s facilities, preserve its World Heritage sites and support traditional owners and their community. Children and teenagers under 18 years go free, making it even easier for families to visit this world-renowned icon.

IS THERE ANYTHING I NEED TO DO PRIOR TO MY TRIP?
All travellers arriving from outside of the Northern Territory – including domestic and overseas travellers – need to obtain a travel permit from the NT government. Fill out the online form on the NT government website within 72 hours before you depart to obtain your permit. You will need to declare your personal contact information and your whereabouts during the previous 28 days, including whether you have been in a COVID-19 hotspot. The form will take about five minutes to complete.
Is WiFi available at the Campground?
Yes, WiFi is available throughout the Campground for a fee. Guests are able to login, using a password available at reception, and pay with a credit card. The cost is $10.00 for 24 hours per device and $20.00 for three days, per device.

The health and wellbeing of our staff and guests is of the utmost importance. Therefore, upon reopening we will implement an enhanced standard of safety along with hygiene measures to meet a new level of expectation. In conjunction with industry leading health and safety partners and our preferred chemical & PPE suppliers we will employ a range of best practice measures for the effective management of COVID-19 across all areas of our business.
New measures include:
- Enhanced cleaning protocols including the daily use of hospital grade cleaning materials and regular deep cleaning of guest rooms and public areas

What are some common reasons for unsuccessful applications?

What are the COVID safety procedures for restaurants?
Restaurant entrances are equipped with hand sanitising stations and a QR code for contactless check-in.
What are the driest months at Uluru/Ayers Rock?
It can rain at any time. However the winter months, June to August, traditionally have less rain.
What are the funding terms and conditions?
If your application is successful, the funding can only be allocated to the purposes specified in your application. The project must be implemented within the allocated budget and meet the time line specified in the application. The Foundation will not be responsible for shortfalls. Where appropriate, quotes must be sourced for all items to be purchased. Acquittal and Project Reports must be submitted during or at the end of the project. If the funding is over $50,000, the Foundation will disperse the amount in two or more parts at its discretion. If the timeline of the project as specified in the documents submitted is not met, the Foundation holds the authority to stop the release of future funds and also ask for the reversal of the funds already paid.
What are the warmest and coolest months to visit?
The coolest months are June-August, when average daytime temperatures are around 20° and the average evening temp is 1°C. November-February are our warmest months, with average daytime temperatures of 35°C, dropping to 25°C at night.
What do I need to take on my tour?
A hat, sunglasses, camera, water and closed-in sturdy walking shoes. Warm clothing is recommended from Apr to Oct, especially for sunrise and sunset tours.
What geographical area does the Anangu Communities Foundation cover?
The Anangu Communities Foundation covers the Anangu communities in the Ngaanyatjarra, Pitjantjatjara and Yankunytjatjara (NPY) region in central Australia.
What if I have food allergies or special dietary requirements? Can I change a particular ingredient in my chosen menu?
Yes! Simply let your server know and they'll ensure your request is taken care of.

- Hotspots can change without notice, it is up to the traveller to be aware of changing circumstances.
Commonwealth and Northern Territory Government regulations and advice must be followed during this time, in particular all relevant biosecurity zone restrictions. What is the best time of year to travel to Ayers Rock Resort and Uluru?
We think any time is a wonderful time to visit. Autumn and spring tend to have more consistent temperatures, but all seasons offer a unique perspective of the desert landscape.
What is the policy on consumption of alcoholic beverages?
The drinking age in Australia is 18 years or older. Valid photo I.D. is required to obtain alcoholic beverages at our restaurants and bars. A hotel room key or campground pass is also required to purchase alcohol at any of our food and beverage outlets.
What is the recruitment process?
Applications may take 7 -10 days to process and due to high volumes of applications only successful applicants are contacted. However, your application will be kept on file so if a suitable position becomes available in the future we may contact you to discuss.
What is Voyages?
Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia is owned by the Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation (ILSC) and manages tourism and resorts on their behalf. We offer experience-based holidays in spectacular wilderness locations in the Red Centre in the Northern Territory, in the East Kimberley of Western Australia and at Mossman Gorge in Tropical North Queensland.
What laundry facilities and services are available?
All hotels, with the exception of The Lost Camel, have laundry facilities that guests can use, free of charge. Guests of The Lost Camel are welcome to use a laundry at one of the other hotels. The resort also offers dry-cleaning services and hotel laundry, which are available for a fee.

What medical services are available?
If you require medical attention during your stay, we do have a medical centre on the resort. To book an appointment, please contact the centre directly on (08) 8956 2224 or contact your hotel reception for assistance.
Each visit is different, so fees may vary. If you have a medicare card, you will be able to file a claim for coverage. For international guests with travel insurance, you'll be able to invoice your insurance company once you arrive back home.
For any medical supplies required, there is a pharmacy section in the supermarket.

There are a full range of professional services available to take care of all your needs while you’re on holiday, including:
Post Office: Located in Yulara Town Square; open Monday-Friday 9am-5pm and Saturday 9am-12pm
Bank: Located in Yulara Town Square; open Monday-Thursday 10am - 3pm and Friday, 10am-4pm
Auto Mechanic: Located on Giles Street just outside the resort; open Monday-Friday 8am-5:30pm
Hair Salon: Located in Yulara Town Square; open daily 9am-5pm
Petrol Station: Located near Ayers Rock Campground; open daily 6am-9pm
WHAT PRECAUTIONS IS VOYAGES TAKING AT AYERS ROCK RESORT TO ADDRESS THE SPREAD OF COVID-19?
We have employed numerous precautions, including:
- Heightened frequency of cleaning and sanitising public spaces and accommodation rooms with hospital grade disinfectant
- Creation of a team trained to Hazmat level PPE to disinfect at-risk areas of the Resort
- Set up of isolation/quarantine areas on site should they be required
- Enhanced communications with Voyages’ staff and local business partners to ensure consistent protocols and risk mitigation
- Using up to date information on status and control measures from Government Health agencies to continually adjust and improve our operating protocols in line with recommendations
What properties do you operate?
Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia operates Ayers Rock Resort providing a variety of accommodation options for every possible taste and budget - from the award winning 5-star Sails in the Desert, and modern Desert Gardens Hotel, to the self contained Emu Walk Apartments, the authentic Outback Pioneer Hotel and Lodge, and the Ayers Rock Campground, offering powered campsites and air conditioned cabins.
What shopping and retail are available at the resort?
Guests at the resort can easily access the following retail outlets and shops:
Supermarket: Located in the town square; open 8am-9pm daily. There is no pharmacy on the resort, but the supermarket stocks a basic assortment of medical supplies. For any medications you urgently need, please make an appointment with the Medical Centre.
Souvenirs: Hotel boutiques and the Town Square offer a great assortment of souvenirs. You can also purchase souvenirs from the Cultural Centre in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.
Art Galleries: Browse and shop for art at any of the galleries on the resort, or at the Cultural Centre in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park.
What should I pack for my tour?
A hat, sunglasses, camera, water and closed-toe, sturdy walking shoes are recommended. Between April and October, be sure to pack warm clothing and layers, especially for sunrise and sunset tours when it can be quite cool.
What supporting documentation is required with my application?
- Three competitive quotes relating to the items being purchased by the grant funds must be included with your application
- Letters of support from the landholders
- Evidence of funding support from other partners
- Any Business Plans or Strategic Plans
- Floor plan or project design if applicable
What time is check in/check out at The Resort?
For Sails in the Desert Hotel, Desert Gardens Hotel, The Lost Camel Hotel, Emu Walk Apartments and Outback Pioneer Hotel:

What’s closed due to COVID-19 at Mossman Gorge?
To protect our vulnerable community members, We are asking visitors to use the provided shuttle bus services rather than walking through the community to access the Gorge. This is to protect our local Indigenous community.
When is Mossman Gorge reopening?
Mossman Gorge closed in March 2020 due to COVID-19. The Centre reopened in July 2020 and is currently open seven days per week (we’re closed on Christmas Day).
When should I apply?
Positions on the website will have varying start dates with some immediate and some for the future. Generally, positions are advertised on our website between 2-4 weeks before an ideal commencement date. However, if a position interests you and you are able to commence after this timeframe, please apply and indicate this on your application.
When will I find out if my application is successful?

Where can I park my car? What if I’m bringing a car with a rooftop tent?
Cars with rooftop tents use van sites – choose between powered or unpowered sites.
Campground guests with tents are able to park next to or near their tent on the roads outside of the bollards that surround the lawns.
Where can I purchase snacks?
There is a local supermarket (IGA) in the Yulara town square that sells a variety of snacks and groceries.
Where is Mossman Gorge located?
Mossman Gorge is in Queensland, Australia, located approximately 77 km north of Cairns, 20 km north of Port Douglas, and approx 2 km from the tiny township of Mossman. Mossman Gorge is an easy drive from many major centres, with parking available once you arrive at the Centre. Which airport is the closest to the Resort?
Ayers Rock Conellan Airport (AYQ) is the closest to Ayers Rock Resort and its hotels/campgrounds.
Will I be picked up and dropped off at my hotel?
Yes, unless otherwise specified, pick up and drop off for all tours will be at the hotel.
Will I be refunded for a cancellation?
It depends on the terms of the package you have booked. Some rates are non-refundable or may involve cancellation fees. Terms are advised at time of booking, so make sure to review all info carefully when you book to avoid any surprises.
Will my children be allowed in any of the bars?
All food and beverage outlets within the resort are child-friendly. Alternatively, our outdoor dining experiences have minimum age requirements outlined at the time of booking.
