Wintjiri Wiru: A World-Class Drone and Light Show
As darkness settles over the desert, something truly remarkable begins. Wintjiri Wiru stands out as one of Uluru’s most talked about night activities. It’s not just another night out here, it’s the one you’ll talk about long after you’ve left. And for a good reason.

What to Expect
With Wintjiri Wiru, the night sky transforms into a living canvas. Thousands of drones, 1200 to be exact, rise quietly, forming intricate shapes and symbols, accompanied by lasers, projections, and a powerful soundtrack. Together, they bring to life a chapter of the ancient Mala story sacred to Anangu, the traditional custodians of the land.
Lasers sweep softly across the landscape. Sound carried through the stillness. Above you, the story unfolds.
Choose your Wintjiri Wiru Experience
There are three ways to experience Wintjiri Wiru, each offering a slightly different rhythm of the evening:
Field of Light: 50,000 Lights Under a Billion Stars
Created by internationally celebrated artist Bruce Munro, the critically acclaimed, award-winning Field of Light Uluru is one of Munro’s largest installations. In 2026, it marks its 10-year anniversary – a decade of transforming the desert at Uluru with more than 50,000 glowing spheres.

What to Expect
Step gently into a glowing Field of Light and find yourself surrounded by thousands of softly illuminated stems stretching across the desert, resembling a field of desert flowers in bloom. As the colours shift from warm hues to deep violets, the installation feels alive, echoing the rhythms of the land it sits gently on.
Choose your Field of Light Experience
There are several ways to explore this iconic installation, which was recently extended through 2029 due to popular demand.
Sunrise Journeys: A Gentle Awakening at Uluru
Sunrise Journeys is an intimate and sensory storytelling experience designed to last well beyond your stay. A stunning piece of artwork, created by three local Anangu women, is brought to life across the desert landscape with laser projections and music. Light, sound and Indigenous storytelling weave together, inviting you to slow down and listen as the morning unfolds.

What to Expect
As dawn approaches, Sunrise Journeys offers a quieter, deeply reflective way to experience Uluru before the world awakens. You'll be greeted with a warm Australian Chai latte and a light snack. As the sun rises, Uluru gradually changes in colour, accompanied by a light storytelling session synchronised with the sunrise. After the show, you'll sit quietly and watch the sky's colours shift. The morning continues with a native-inspired breakfast, including juice, coffee, and tea, offering a calm moment to linger, reflect, and soak in the peacefulness of Country as it comes to life.
Best for: Early risers seeking a peaceful, immersive way to watch the sunrise over Uluru and connect with the landscape as it gently comes to life. And if you’re not an early riser, trust us, this is one moment absolutely worth sacrificing a little sleep for.
