Ultimate Outdoor Dining Experiences in Uluru

Food is a central part of any holiday. In Uluru, you’ll not only have the chance to sample menus that feature native ingredients, but you also get the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to dine under the dazzling night sky of the Australian Outback. With five incredible outdoor dining experiences available at Ayers Rock Resort, choosing just one will be a feat in itself. Whether you’re sampling canapes and sipping on Penfolds wines as the sun sets before Wintjiri Wiru drone show, or diving into a four-course table d’hote menu at Tali Wiru, each meal shared under the Red Centre sky is sure to be one you’ll remember long after the final course is served.

Sounds of Silence

Experience Sounds of Silence in the Spiritual Heart of Australia. This award-winning dining experience begins atop a dune overlooking Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, where we will welcome you with canapés and chilled sparkling wine. As the sun sets and night descends on the desert, immerse yourself in the moving melodies of a didgeridoo, joining fellow travellers for an unforgettable dining experience.

Throughout the evening, a selection of Australian wines and beers will be on offer. Under the twinkling night sky, you'll have the opportunity to visit an interactive chef’s station, where a menu inspired by native bush tucker awaits, featuring freshly prepared dishes incorporating indigenous ingredients.

Then, you’ll have a chance to relax and learn as our resident star talker unveils the secrets of the southern night sky. With the atmosphere's exceptional clarity, marvel at the Southern Cross, the signs of the zodiac, the Milky Way, and the Indigenous stories behind the constellations.

Sunrise Journeys

Start your day with an immersive art experience in the Australian Outback with Sunrise Journeys. This exclusive experience celebrates the profound connection between the land and three acclaimed An̲angu women artists, whose custom artwork vividly illustrates their connection to the Country.

Before the golden hues of sunrise reveal the iconic silhouettes of Uluru-Kata Tjuta, watch as their captivating creation comes alive across the desert. Using the arid landscape as a canvas, the artwork unfolds, animated by state-of-the-art laser and light projection technology. Indigenous motifs, reminiscent of traditional dot paintings, ebb and flow gracefully, transforming the dark terrain into a mesmerising display.

Afterward, savour a delightful breakfast infused with native flavours, including options like smoked Kangaroo, vintage cheddar and bush tomato croissant, quandong chia and coconut pudding, and more. Your breakfast will be perfectly complemented by a cup of Australian chai tea. This unique blend of art, culture, and nature offers an unforgettable way to connect with the Spiritual Heart of Australia.

Tali Wiru

The art of fine dining comes to life under the Southern Desert sky at Tali Wiru. Translating to ‘beautiful dune’ in the local An̲angu language, it is an open-air restaurant with unparalleled views of Uluru and the distant domes of Kata Tjuta. This intimate dining experience commences with the haunting sounds of the didgeridoo as the sun sets while you enjoy champagne and canapés.

Every course is infused with ancient native ingredients, and each dish is crafted to highlight the quality and attributes of those ingredients, bringing them together in perfect harmony. Delight in a dynamic menu that changes annually, featuring delicacies like Victorian chestnut and celeriac velouté, wild Moreton Bay bug (slipper lobster), wattle seed dusted dorper lamb loin, Darling Downs wagyu beef tenderloin marble 6+, and wild forest mushroom risotto. Satisfy your sweet tooth with dessert options like chocolate delice, desert honey and Kakadu plum mousse, or a homestead cheese board. Each of the four courses is expertly paired with Penfolds wines.

Later, while you sip on a nightcap around a roaring campfire, an Indigenous storyteller will share tales of the past. This is one night that you’ll never forget.

In case you need one more reason to add this experience to your bucket list, Tali Wiru has been awarded an Australian Good Food Guide Chef Hat for 2024 and a Readers' Choice Award, becoming the highest rated restaurant in the Northern Territory and the only entirely outdoor dining experience in Australia to be recognised.

Indulge in a culinary adventure with a gourmet dinner hamper, where native ingredients are combined with modern culinary techniques to create a masterpiece for your palate.

With the heart of Australia as the backdrop, Wintjiri Wiru comes to life. This award-winning cultural storytelling experience shares a chapter of the ancestral Mala story through choreographed drones, lasers, and projections illuminating the night sky. Created in collaboration with senior Anangu from Kaltukatjara to Mutitjulu, the Traditional Custodians of the land, Wintjiri Wiru is the world’s largest ongoing drone display.
