You’ll be surrounded by stunning natural landscapes, iconic rock formations, and a rich Indigenous culture that brings everything together. When you’re here, it’s understandable that you’d want to spend time with a special someone on an unforgettable date night — and we’re here to help make it happen!

Here are five amazing date night ideas to share with a special someone.

Enjoy a Bush Tucker Buffet Under the Red Centre Sky

An experience so good it’s in the Australian Tourism Hall of Fame? Sounds like a perfect date night to us! The evening starts on a dune top that overlooks Uluru and Kata Tjuta. Here, you’ll enjoy Outback-style canapes and sparkling wine while watching the desert colours change as the sun sets. The distinctive sound of the didgeridoo will provide a comforting hum as you settle down at your table to experience the Sounds of Silence.

Next, your three-course meal begins. Staff will stop by throughout the feast with a selection of Australian wine and beer to sip on while soaking in stunning desert scenes. As the night sky comes to life, you can visit an interactive chef’s station to choose items from a bush tucker-inspired menu made with Indigenous ingredients.

After dinner, it’s time to look up and get lost together in the southern night sky as a star talker guides you through the cosmos visible in the sky above. You’ll have plenty to talk about the rest of your holiday as you stargaze and find planets, distant galaxies, and the Southern Cross constellation.

A Table for Two at Tali Wiru

Want to feel like you have the entire Red Centre to yourself? You can with an unforgettable date night at Tali Wiru. Enjoy fine dining at an intimate table for two under the twinkling lights of the Southern Desert sky with magnificent views of Uluru and the fascinating domes of Kata Tjuta. There’s nothing quite like the ambient sounds of the still desert at night from Tali Wiru, the local Anangu word meaning ‘beautiful dune’.

Your eyes, ears, and taste buds will all be delighted at this exclusive four-course dinner. The table d’hôte menu is carefully curated to include dishes infused with ancient herbs and spices. The dishes are respectfully crafted to bring together each ingredient’s flavour attributes — and every course is paired with premium Australian wine. As you dine, an Indigenous storyteller will share stories highlighting the culture, history, and spirituality of the land with you — making for an experience that is so much more than just a meal.

Going up While the Sun Sets Over Uluru & Kata Tjuta

Take date night to new heights, literally, with a helicopter tour of some of Australia’s most iconic landmarks. Throughout your 36-minute flight, you’ll see Uluru and Kata Tjuta put on a show as they appear to change colour as the sun disappears for the day. You’ll also gain an appreciation for the sheer magnitude of the sandstone monolith of Uluru and the 36 distinctive domes of Kata Tjuta. Not only is this a perfect idea for date night, it’s also an adventure that would rank high on any bucket list!

Sparkling Wine and Uluru Sunset

Enjoy a romantic sunset and a side of adventure with SEIT Outback Australia. You and your special someone will take golden hour to the next level with a sunset overlooking Uluru while sipping on chilled sparkling wine and sampling light snacks. The stunning views from the sunset strip in the national park will take your breath away.

But before the relaxing, romantic portion of the evening, you’ll have a chance to explore Uluru together. Your small-group tour vehicle will transport you to a place where you’ll learn about the culture, geology, and environment of the monolith. Visit Mutitjulu Waterhole and the nearby rock art locations and discover sites important to the local Anangu. You’ll definitely want to bring your camera to capture some memories, as well as a photo of the two of you on date night!

Field of Light and a Nightcap

Another date night in the desert that visitors to Ayers Rock Resort simply can’t get enough of! The Field of Light Uluru exhibition was first installed in the desert in 2016. What was initially supposed to be a temporary art installation is now here indefinitely. While different Field of Light exhibitions by Bruce Munro are set up worldwide, the idea all started when he was visiting Northern Territories camping in the desert with his fiancée.

It’s a sight to behold, with 50,000 spindles of lights covering more than seven football fields of ground. The exhibition is named Tili Wiru Tjuta Nyakutjaku, which means ‘looking at lots of beautiful lights’ in the local Pitjantjatjara language. With the Field of Light Pass, you and your special someone can take a self-guided walk through the exhibition at night.

Date night doesn’t have to end after taking in this illuminating display. Head back to the resort and get comfortable and cozy at the Walpa Lobby Bar for a nightcap. While the full menu is available until 5:30pm, bar bites are available on the late-night menu. So if you’re looking for something delicious to go along with a glass of wine, native-infused cocktail, or mocktail, you’re in luck.
