Uluru is Thrown into Silhouette
As darkness falls and Uluru is thrown into silhouette, Field of Light illuminates. As far as the eye can see, gentle rhythms of colour light up the desert.
Created by internationally celebrated artist Bruce Munro, the critically acclaimed, award-winning Field of Light Uluru is one of Munro’s largest installations. In 2026, it marks its 10-year anniversary – a decade of transforming the desert at Uluru with more than 50,000 glowing spheres. To celebrate this milestone, Bruce Munro will return to Ayers Rock Resort from 27-29 March for special introductions to Field of Light experiences and live Q&A sessions, offering a rare opportunity to hear directly from the artist.
Overwhelming in scale – covering more than seven football fields – the installation invites immersion in a fantasy garden of 50,000 spindles of light, the stems breathing and swaying through a sympathetic desert spectrum of ochre, deep violet, blue and gentle white.
