Join us in celebrating a momentous occasion – the 40th Anniversary of Handback, marking the return of the title deeds for Uluru and Kata Tjuta to the Anangu Traditional Owners.
On Saturday 25 October, guests are invited to be part of this extraordinary, historic celebration themed "Fire of the Past, Igniting the Hearts of the Future – Waru Iritinguru, Tiliningi Kurunpa Kuranyukutungku Katiringkupai."
The free public event will take place at Talinguru Nyakunytjaku, the stunning sunrise viewing area within Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. Gates open from 3:00pm, welcoming everyone to enjoy a vibrant marketplace featuring Anangu arts and crafts, local Indigenous organisations, and community school stalls.
From 4:15pm, the celebrations begin with Inma (traditional dance), followed by an incredible concert showcasing Dr Shellie Morris AO, Mutitjulu School and Nyangatjatjara College, Iwiri Choir, Shane Howard with Trevor, UPK Band, Dem Mob, Jamie Fejo Band, Docker River Band, and the Mutitjulu Band.
Dinner will be provided for all attendees, with additional food stalls available throughout the afternoon.
Guests are encouraged to stay hydrated and sun safe so please bring a hat, sunscreen, and a refillable water bottle (a water station will be available onsite).
Shuttle bus services will be available between Yulara and Talinguru Nyakunytjaku from 3:00pm. Timetables and further transport details will be shared closer to the event.
This free celebration is open to all community members and visitors with a valid park pass. You can purchase a pass here.
