Ultimate Guide to doing Uluru in Style

Wednesday, 10 April 2019

Despite not being the best place to don your haute couture, don't be misled into thinking the Red Centre can't offer the best in luxury getaways. Here are 9 incredible reasons that adding a stay at Ayers Rock Resort should be on your lux-list.

1. Truly disconnect from the world around you in an oasis in the desert.

A stay at the five star Sails in the Desert Hotel is a luxury escape like no other. Whatever your taste, choose between an incredible line up of once-in-a-lifetime experiences. Whether you're all about incredible dining or outback adventures, relaxing by the gumtree lined swimming pool, reading a book on the terrace of your deluxe suite, making the most of your luxury spa bath, or ordering room service in your complimentary robe from your king size bed, Sails in the Desert has everything you need.

2. Unwind at the Red Ochre Spa.

A sanctuary right in the heart of Uluru. The Red Ochre Spa was designed with pampering and total indulgence in mind, and provides guests the opportunity to exchange stressed or weary state for tranquility. Embrace treatments that renew energies or evoke luscious relaxation.

3. See Uluru and Kata Tjuta the VIP way.

One of the best ways to see Uluru and Kata Tjuta is from the air, and with charters flying on demand all year round, there's no reason to miss those 360 degree, uninterrupted views! The Australian outback and two of its most unique and impressive monoliths are an incredible spectacle at any time of day, but for a truly magical experience why not book a private flight for two and choose either a sunrise or sunset time-slot. You'll get to witness the vast desert landscape turn unimaginable shades of purples, pinks, oranges, reds and yellows.

4. Savour the afternoon looking for local Indigenous Art.

Stroll between the three galleries on site at the resort to discover a superb collection of original Indigenous art and paintings showcasing the many different local and Central Australian regional styles. Browse hand-crafted glassware, jewellery, pottery and textiles - perhaps finding the perfect gift or addition to your home.

5. Experience world-class gastronomic fare in the heart of the outback.

Tali Wiru, meaning 'beautiful dune' in local Anangu language, encapsulates the magic of fine dining under the southern desert sky. Take your seat atop a secluded dune-top,soak in the atmosphere of this open air dining experience, then sit back and enjoy four courses of incredible food infused with ancient native herbs and spices and perfectly paired with premium Australian wines.

6. Connect with the world's oldest culture.

Explore the mystery, colour and wisdom of the local Anangu people by participating in one of the free guest activities available around the resort. The Bush Food Experience is a favourite among guests, where you learn about Australian and local native bush foods. Taste seasonal seeds, fruits and spices before enjoying a cooking demonstration.

7. Lap up the peacefulness and tranquility of a pre-dawn desert.

Rising before the sun, welcome the dawn of a new day as the night stars fade and a transformative array of colours signal a new beginning. Your Desert Awakenings tour begins with a traditional bushman's breakfast before your guide delivers insight into the ancient landscape, ecology, culture, heritage and history of Australia's spiritual heartland. With this new, deeper understanding you will follow in the footsteps of the ancestral beings that shaped this landscape, on a guided tour of the base of Uluru.

8. Try a spin on a classic at Walpa Bar.

Sip away the afternoon with an Indigenous inspired cocktail at this relaxed and inviting bar or perhaps stop by for a pre-dinner drink. The lemon myrtle martini is a must!

9. Enjoy exclusive dune top views of the impressive Field of Light.

After a short transfer to a remote desert location, delight in a selection of canapes with sparkling wine or beer as you watch the setting sun and majestic views of Uluru. As darkness falls around you, Field of Light beckons you to explore and lose yourself momentarily in the rhythm of 50,000 coloured glass spheres.
