Desert Awakenings Couple

You might not want to pull yourself out of your heavenly, comfortable 'Ahh' bed, but trust us, it's worth it.You won't want to miss seeing the last stars fade from view, and the magic of the desert come to life as the dawn of a new day transforms Uluru and Kata Tjuta. From a private and remote sunrise viewing site, embrace the rugged and rustic atmosphere, before enjoying the great Australian breakfast - a bacon and egg roll or homemade damper with Golden Syrup.

Once you've had your fill of coffee and food a local guide will lead you on a short walk to Mutitjulu waterhole at the base of Uluru and observe the ancient rock paintings which highlight the importance of this site to Anangu.

Everybody loves a bit of mood lighting, and when there's 50,000 coloured spheres of light dotting the desert coupled with a three course bush tucker feast, you really can't pass up this once in a lifetime experience. Begin you magical evening with a selection of outback canapes and sparkling wine as darkness falls around you and a didgeridoo plays in the background. With the Field of Light gently twinkling to life in the distance behind you, you tuck into your three course dinner. Steal a kiss from a camel.

Camel Kiss

Jump aboard the outback's most iconic form of transportation, the camel train. These single-humped beauties will lead you through the desert as our expert cameleers describe the native flora and fauna you encounter as you saunter by. Depending on how long you want to bat your eyelashes at your newest friends you can choose between a mid-morning ride or link it in with a sunrise or sunset experience. You'll also visit the Camel Farm Museum and learn about the camel history of the Red Centre, plus get to sample our famous baked beer bread with quangdong jam.

Mani Mani Indigenous Cultural Theatre

Mani-Mani Theatre Company’s unique sound, lighting, 3D effects and performance take you on a visually captivating experience transporting you to the ancient lands of Central Australia where the story of Walawuru, Kakalyalya & Kaanka unravels. The symbolic story of Walawuru, Kakalyalya & Kaanka is a tale of love, jealousy and greed. Expressed through ‘Mani-Mani’, the local art form of storytelling, this contemporary Indigenous performance brings to life the ancient ancestral beings Walawuru the Wedge-Tailed Eagle and his two wives; Kaanka the black crow and Kakalyalya the white cockatoo. Walawuru is happy with his two wives but little does he know Kaanka is evil and very jealous of the kind and caring Kakalyalya. The word ‘Mani-Mani’ comes from the Yankunytjatjara & Pitjantjatjara language of the Anangu people of Central Australia. Anangu people would often tell stories by drawing symbols in the sand using a stick taken from a branch of the Mani-Mani tree. The stories were often about ancestors, real events in history and the Tjukurpa creation time. Tour duration: approx. 40 minutes. Wintjiri museum provides an educational display highlighting local history, Aboriginal culture, geology, flora and fauna. On this interpretative tour of the museum your Aboriginal guide will introduce you to the region's unique ecology and classes of mammals and fauna types not found anywhere else in the world.  Gain insights into the Anangu land conservation and management practices as well as a brief historical overview; starting 30,000 years ago with the Aboriginal habitation to the early European explorers, and the development of tourism at Uluru. Bush Yarn

Welcome to the Circle of Sand, the Indigenous heart of Ayers Rock Resort. You'll become captivated by the yarns told by an Indigenous storyteller of Aboriginal history, culture and traditional techniques used on the land. Dependant on the season, learn about traditional bushtucker or an Indigenous man’s “survival kit” including weapons such as katjii (hunting spears), tjutinpa (clubs), kali (boomerangs) and miru (spear thrower).
