5 New Ways to Explore Uluru

Calling all foodies, adventure seekers and wildlife enthusiasts! As if you didn’t have an array of experiences to choose from already, you can now experience Australia’s Red Centre in a whole new light with five new and exciting tours added to the list.

Uluru Feastival

Spend a weekend celebrating Indigenous food and culture at the Uluru Feastival held 9-10 March. Part of Ayers Rock Resort’s Bush Tucker Journeys program, these two gastronomic days include traditional bush tucker tastings and a signature masterclass followed by a three-course tasting dinner under the stars with Bush Tucker Ambassador and celebrity chef Mark Olive. Prices start from $285 per person.

Uluru Segway

The base walk is a must-do when you visit Uluru. But if you’re not keen on walking or riding a bicycle around the base, you can now circle the 10.6km loop at ease on a guided Segway tour. Maneuvering this gizmo is surprisingly easy and you’ll find yourself gliding along the track. Your guide will lead the way and share their knowledge of ancient rock art, flora and fauna, and stories of the Anangu people, life and culture. Prices start from $119 per person.

Bush Food Experience

You can’t visit Uluru without tasting some bush tucker. Luckily there’s a new daily Bush Food Experience that teaches you all about native Australian ingredients and how these bush foods were used by Indigenous people. Part of Ayers Rock Resort’s Bush Tucker Journeys program, you’ll learn ancient food preparation techniques before enjoying a cooking demonstration using native ingredients for wattleseed shortbread. Free for guests of Ayers Rock Resort.

Uluru Fork & View

Hop on board the Uluru Fork & View double-decker coach and join SEIT’s new Uluru Billy Tea & Tjukurpa tour. Travel around the base with uninterrupted top deck views of the majestic Uluru and the desert surrounds before hopping off the coach for a fully guided walk into Mutitjulu Waterhole and Kantju Gorge. Your guide will share their knowledge of the Tjukurpa (creation stories) of the Mala people and local Anangu culture. Back on the coach you’re served a delicious outback style morning tea, before a quick visit to the Cultural Centre. Prices start from $165 per person.

Red Desert Reptiles

Ever wondered how the reptiles of Central Australia survive the harsh desert environment? All the answers to your questions can be answered at the Red Desert Reptiles show. Meet some special creatures like Bruce the blue tongue lizard (Lungkata), Wolverine the bearded dragon (Ngapala), Max the mulga or king brown (Liru) and a Woma Python (Kuniya). You’ll be able to hold some of these reptiles – so don’t forget your camera! Prices start from $25 per person.
