Entry: FREE | charges apply for dining events

Be part of the inaugural Tjungu Festival 24 to 27 April 2014 at Voyages Ayers Rock Resort. Tjungu (pron. tjoo-ngoo), means meeting or coming together in local Anangu language, celebrates the best of Australian Indigenous culture.

During this four-day family friendly festival the Resort will be humming with activity from sunrise to sunset and beyond. There will be a lively timetable of events featuring everything from culture to fashion and art from sport to music and food. This uplifting festival will provide a fantastic opportunity to fully immerse yourself in Australian Indigenous and local Anangu culture, adding another layer to your already inspiring Uluru experience.

Highlights of the Tjungu Festival include a local Anangu Welcome to Country, a fantastic line-up of traditional and contemporary Indigenous musicians and bands including Shellie Morris, Casey Donovan, Warren H Williams and Marcus Corowa, and a short film festival celebrates Indigenous culture on screen.

Indigenous model Samantha Harris will mentor and guide local youngsters and lead a special fashion parade and celebrity chef Mark Olive hosts a gourmet bush tucker master class followed by an exclusive dining experience under the stars at Tastes of Tjungu.

An Aussie Rules Football match, the inaugural Tjungu Cup, featuring prominent AFL player Michael O'Loughlin, will delight young and old. On the final evening the crowd will come alive when Australian idol winner and singing sensation Casey Donovan and the wonderful three-time ARIA nominee Warren H Williams will take to the stage for an inspirational performance.

Browse the many market stalls showcasing arts, crafts and bush foods, interact with Indigenous artists and learn about bush tucker. These experiences will complement the multitude of interactive activities on the Resort's regular daily Indigenous activities schedule. The iconic curves of Uluru are just the beginning... your days will be filled with culture, action and adventure during the Tjungu Festival Anzac weekend.
